I made some big life changes this fall, and I want to let you in a little - here's what's going on, what's working, what's not, what's keeping me grounded, what's protecting my health, what's still a struggle, and what I really think about "not having enough time."
It's a little rambley, but it's honest. Life is hard, but you can do hard things. You are worthy and capable of living a healthy lifestyle you love.
Time management: Lots of times I'll hear people using the phrase "when I have time" - but I'm here to challenge that statement to say that maybe it's not that you don't have the time. Maybe, you just don't have time management.
Give yourself grace: Easier said than done... I know. Which means speaking to yourself with love and kindness. Knowing that each day will be done with your best & whatever it is that you get done is perfect.
Getting up earlier: Now getting up between 5:30-6am. I'm giving myself about an hour & a half in the morning to set myself up for the day. Really, it only takes me about 45 minutes at the most to get ready to leave the house. The other 45 minutes I save for myself. Time dedicated just to myself to do whatever it is that I need to do, to make sure I get that time in before I get wrapped up into whatever else my day entails.
Bedtime: Forcing myself to be super firm about my bedtime - meaning sometimes I leave things unfinished. I recommend using the calendar on your phone or notes app to remind yourself to follow up with those things when you have time!
Physical exercise: I'm still adjusting getting used to this new schedule and while I did sign up for a new gym membership (yay!) I might not always get there as much as I really want to. So, it's incorporating intentional movement in creative ways. Making sure to take long walks whenever I can, even if that just means going around the building & taking the stairs. Fitting in those extra movements wherever I can to make sure that I stay moving.
Meal prepping: The better I prep, the better I eat, the better I feel. Consistently. I know this. So making sure to eat nutritious meals and even more important, packing enough food that I don't find myself hungry without anything healthy during the day, is soo important. And yes, that might mean eating the same thing each week. But at least I know it's nutritious, enjoyable, and made with love :) Always include grains, healthy fats (nuts, tahini), protein (chickpeas, tofu tempeh..), veggies!
Boundaries vs Time Management: Knowing when to allow time for certain things. It's literally having boundaries with myself. Knowing when to say No Thanks... Continually checking in with myself and creating an awareness of the use of my time. Are the things I'm saying yes to giving value to my life or taking it away?
And there you have it. Some of the highlights that have been coming up for me over the last few months - trying to juggle a full-time job and a full-time business! Remember. I don't do it all, and I don't do it all alone. Instagram is a highlight reel. You can do hard things <3
